Female bike lifters

More bike lifting (or “Chicago hold-up“) photos -

The first of those photos is from Flickr. (It was taken and posted by Eda Cherry.)

The rest of the photos are from Bike Salute . com.

For me, those images are a mix of feminism and pro-cycling advocacy.

Of course, I mention feminism because the photos convey female empowerment — which, in this case, involves a lot more than the muscular strength needed to lift the bikes.  There’s also a little pride on display, and that can be feminist — for women, and for anyone who is at odds with the sex and gender status quo (which also includes mainstream forms of take-charge and take-authority masculinity).

In other words, feminism isn’t just about women —
as I’ve previously indicated here, for instance.

I love those pix, though I’m sad because my muscles aren’t strong enough to lift my bike like that. These women are hot!

Cool post! Thanks for using my photo, too!

If any of those women made it up to Chatham-Kent I would give them a massage and a good meal. How’s that for encouragement!
